Program Description

Event Details

Augusta, Georgia was once known for its beautiful public and private gardens. Among the many private gardens was the garden at Goshen Plantation created by Joseph and Harriet Speer around 1912. The Speers' garden was one of the few from Augusta featured in The Garden History of Georgia, 1733-1933, published by the Garden Club of Georgia, Inc. Harriet Speers granddaughter and namesake, Harriet Dick Speer, born in Augusta in 1954, has curated an exhibit that tells her grandmother's story through the artifacts collected during her world travels, and of her own art. The exhibit will be on display from July-September in the Georgia Heritage Room on the third floor of the Augusta Public Library. For details, please call 706-826-1511.
