Join us for a special program on the importance of preserving family collections and heirlooms for future generations. Brittany Noel Corbin, guest curator of the Rosa T. Beard Debutante Club exhibition currently on display at the Lucy Craft Laney Museum of Black History and the Augusta Public Library will be here to discuss the exhibit and how the club cares of the objects gathered for the exhibition. She will go over how museums and archives preserve and conserve objects and memories, and how individuals may do the same with their heirlooms, family treasures, and memories. Ms. Corbin will provide a list of low-cost materials and resources one may use to preserve own family collections and show examples of best use practices when storing these items. Ms. Corbin is a former Debutante and a doctoral student at the University of Georgia, studying fashion with a focus on history and culture.
